February 20, 2025Faith is a journey—one that often leads us into uncharted waters. There are moments when we must choose to step into the unknown, trusting that God’s provision will guide us through. This is the story of how faith and sacrifice brought unexpected blessings and led our family to experience God’s provision in ways we could never have imagined.
Wink and his wife felt led by faith to spend the summer months in Denver, focused on helping their son, Eric, move toward independence. They set two clear goals: to assist Eric in finding full-time employment and to teach him how to drive. However, as they would soon learn, God had plans far different than their own. Despite their best efforts, neither of these goals was achieved as they had envisioned. Instead, God worked in unexpected ways, demonstrating His perfect timing and wisdom in ways only He could provide.
Weeks were spent helping Eric refine his resumes, apply for over 80 job opportunities, and prepare for interviews. Though no full-time offers materialized, Eric’s part-time hours increased significantly, boosting his confidence and allowing him to take greater control of his finances. During their time in Denver, Wink and his wife also had the opportunity to meet Eric’s girlfriend, a woman of faith whose supportive presence became an integral part of Eric’s healing journey. This experience reinforced how God’s provision often comes through the people He places in our lives.
In the midst of these efforts, God presented an unforeseen opportunity. The idea to purchase a fixer-upper condo for Eric came seemingly out of nowhere. Yet, everything fell into place in just two weeks—an unexpected but clear answer to prayer. Trusting in God’s provision and guidance, Wink and his wife invested their time, resources, and faith into transforming the condo into a space where Eric could thrive. The purchase and renovation of the condo became a symbol of hope and stability for their son—a testament to how faith and obedience can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
Eric moved into the condo shortly after initial repairs, marking a monumental step toward his independence. For the first time as a young adult, he was able to live entirely on his own income while paying rent on the condo. It was an embodiment of God’s provision—a provision that came in unexpected forms and at the perfect time.
Looking back, Wink and his wife saw their summer as a clear testament to God’s faithfulness. Much like the boy who offered his loaves and fish to Jesus to feed the five thousand, they gave what they had—time, energy, and resources—and watched as God multiplied their sacrifices far beyond their expectations. Eric’s transformation became a living testimony to the power of prayer and God’s sovereignty. Today, Eric is fully employed, engaged to his girlfriend, and has purchased the condominium from his parents—a full circle moment that highlights the importance of trust and obedience in God’s plan.
Through prayer, trust, and obedience, our acts of sacrifice can lead to extraordinary outcomes, not only for ourselves but also for those we love. Praise God for His unending faithfulness and provision!
